Twitter Mass Lay-off, Co-founder Shares Note
Many workers who were laid off from Twitter tweeted their experiences and feelings after Elon Musk cited the reduction of operational expenses as a reason for layoffs. Reports of the mass layoffs emerged on the platform’s website, along with photos of what were seemingly numerous employees standing together under the #OneTeam hashtag, a blue heart, and salute emojis.
Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey expressed his thoughts on the direction the social media platform is taking under the new CEO. Jack said, “I grew the company size too quickly. I apologize for that.” And then he went on to appreciate everyone who had contributed to making Twitter what it is today, further acknowledging that it may not be reciprocal right now.
Jack stated that Twitter folks, past and present, are strong and resilient; they will find a way through, no matter what. He said that he realizes many are angry with him. He added that he owns the responsibility for everyone ending up in this situation. The co-founder then apologized for growing the company size too quickly.
Twitter Inc.’s official letter to its dismissed workers read:
“Today is your last working day at the company. However, you will remain employed by Twitter and will receive compensation and benefits through your separation date of 2 February 2023.”
The workers will be on a Non-working notice period during this time, and their access to Twitter systems will be deactivated.
Bloggers, decision-makers, reporters, along with other thought leaders have become reliant on Twitter, a small but powerful platform that became a digital public square over the years.
