Whistleblower to Testify in Twitter Vs. Elon Musk Legal Dispute
A whistleblower has led Elon Musk, the wealthiest man in the world, to back out of the Twitter acquisition deal of $44 billion deal. However, Pieter Zaiko will testify in court in an upcoming US Senate hearing about the platform’s security measures.
Zatko’s meeting with the Senate judiciary committee is expected to significantly impact the legal dispute between Elon Musk and Twitter. The former head of security of the platform said that Twitter had lied about the data to its users and authorities.
What game are the bots playing?
Zatko said that the lack of cyber security standards on the platform has allowed foreign intelligence agencies to penetrate the network. Additionally, he expressed concerns about the robots. Musk later mentioned the whistleblower in a second termination letter to the social media giant.
Parag Agrawal, the platform’s CEO, has been invited by senators Richard Durbin and Charles Grassley to testify. The government has bombarded the platform with inquiries about the system’s safety. The platform has to answer the queries by September 26.
The report also noted that Twitter chose to remain silent about the letter. It is not clear whether Agrawal will attend the meeting.
The Elon Musk Twitter acquisition is a prime example of how seemingly innocuous transactions can lead to unexpected significant outcomes. The social media platform has already been sued over the $44 billion transaction. Musk said it also failed to accurately predict the volume of robots attempting to take it down. Finally, it deceived the government agencies that oversee the industry.
